How to Forget Someone You Like in Simple Steps

I have been asked by many people “How to forget someone you still really like”, and normally the question relates to the ex whom they still have a clear picture of in their mind, or the person who they’ve started dating (or are dating) who pretty much has just dumped them for any reason (someone else, things not working out, and the worst of all: just gone missing without a trace – AWOL).

This article outlines simple steps on how to forget someone you still really like whatever your situation is. It doesn’t matter whether you are the dumper or the dumpee because generally both parties will feel hurt to some extent when a relationship doesn’t work out.

Here are some steps you can do:

1. Cry out everything you can cry out. It is normal and good to cry. You don’t even have to feel embarassed because as long as you do it behind closed doors, no one will know.

2. Fill up your life with some activity. Sometimes the best thing to do when you try to forget someone is to get really busy.

3. Ask for some good friends’ company. It is time to give them a call and catch up after all.

4. Practice the ‘No Contact’ rule. Avoid him like a plaque because your heart can’t exactly handle it right now. And no, you cannot be friends.

5. Go out and meet new people and faces after the initial 24 hours. Being at home beyond the first 24 hours of mourning is just going to prolong the hurt. This way you will be able to realise that there are REALLY plenty of fish in the sea.

6. Try to avoid watching too many romantic soapy movies especially on Saturday nights when you normally watch it with him. Watch something like “Borat” with your friends instead.

7. Be aware that no matter how hurt you are, hygiene is still very important so do not forget shower.

8. Give it time. Time is the ultimate how to forget someone you still really like. Time will heal anything if only given the chance.

    If I may add, being happy is not an after feeling of a person, it is a state of mind. It’s our own choice if we want to be happy or just prolong the agony.

    It’s really hard to forget someone most espcially if you are in a situation of hanging on, still hoping that the other person will come back to you. Even worst, if you always put on your mind that without him, your life will never be the same again. It’s given that we used to see them around and we miss the presence of that special someone but we should also learn to live our own world without him being involved.

    Courage is the power of letting go of something familiar. It’s hard at first but the effort of accepting and learning to let go will be paid off in the end. Don’t be ashamed to cry alone or spill it out with your trusted friend but you should give your time a deadline when you will stop yearning for that person. Drain your tears, cry as if there’s no tomorrow so for the next time you will face the sun, there’s no tears that will come out.

    Try to change the ambiance of your place, change the curtain, arrange your furniture not the same way as it was before. This will help you receive a different and positive vibration. This will be a clear sign that you are starting all over again.

    These simple things will make you feel better. Learn from your mistakes and In God’s time, you will learn how to fall in love again.
