Easy Way to Happiness

Have you ever tried to describe what it is you do as your contribution to the world? It isn’t easy, is it? That just won’t do, because this is, after all, supposed to be the Easy Way to Happiness.

Just this morning I was tasked, again, with describing what I do. It should be easy, but there are a couple of speed bumps along the way. The first is the nature of my work. I’m a spiritual interpreter. Say wha? Our languages do not have clear concise words to describe spiritual concepts! There is also such a broad range of usage of the few terms that we recognize, like psychic, clairvoyant, seer, medical intuitive, spiritual counselor. This is not exclusive to this industry, for in any field of endeavor there are variances in the abilities and output of those providing services. Wow, that turned kind of heavy and blah-blah, so let’s move on.

Then it came to me: I’m a Spiritual Tour Guide. I’d never have guessed it, but it fits! Here’s how it works -

• There you are, fully engaged in your life journey. Day in and day out there you are there in the middle of your life experiences, learning, working and doing. Life can get fairly encapsulating, and sometimes you feel that you get so involved in the process that you forget who you are, or why you are here. “There must be something more to life…”
• So you decide to ‘take a vacation’, aka something that will give you a chance to step out of the day to day, and discover yourself again. Where do you go, what do you do? Most of the time you have no problem finding something interesting and intriguing, but sometimes you just want to expand your thinking and vision.
• Maybe this is one of those times when you decide to turn to someone who’s dedicated their time and energy to helping you discover those interesting and amazing sights. You turn to a tour guide. Why? Because it’s the Easy Way: someone else has done all the work to bring together this amazing tour, and they will guide you to a place where you can see things in a whole new light.
• You call and make your reservation. You have that sense of anticipation, and suddenly you find yourself feeling that excitement, the enthusiasm. You’ve already begun the journey within your journey!
• The day comes for your tour. You step onto the bus, and there is your Life Journey Tour Guide (that’s me!). They welcome you, guide you to your seat, and the tour begins. You see the sights, hear about them with details that paint an amazing picture, and suddenly you have a new perspective. This is a day of mental rest, and you have the chance to breath. This is your day to be, that’s right, just be.
• There’s something different about this tour. Those sights you are seeing are places you have been, only this time you are seeing them in a new light. As the Tour Guide speaks its as though you are lead into a new perspective: You notice the contours, recognize the tones and hues, maybe even understand the reason it came into existence in the first place. This is not a journey to a far away place, this is a journey inward, a journey through time and space. You are on a tour of the most amazing creations that has ever existed: you.
• The Tour Guide looks at you with a smile – they know that on this tour you will find what you seek in your own way, and see it through your own eyes. They can show you the beauty around each corner, but only you can appreciate it. They will offer you a different vantage point, where you can see the lay of the land and understand how it all fits together. Every aspect has value and purpose.
• As you return from your vacation you bring with you an appreciation and richness for the bigger picture, and even more awareness in how trivial some of those ‘important things’ in life really are. You have touched on that part of you that is bigger than the moment, wiser than the mind, and of more worth than all the gold in the world.
